AMANDA ROBERTSON 1823
This reproduction is an English Quaker Sampler.
Very little information came with it, I can only
assume that it could have been stitched by Amanda
who was the older sister or by a teacher who stitched
the initials of her students or a mother who stitched
the initials of her children, three boys and three girls.
Model was reproduced on 30 count Bedrock hand-dyed
linen with DMC and GAT. The stitch count is 131w X 189 h.

STELLA JONES 1811
Stella Jones is from a private collection of Pamela
Jones from Ontario Canada, Stella was also Pam's
great-great grandmother. The letters of the alphabet
scattered throughout the sampler represent Stella's
brother, sisters and two cousins.
Stella was around 18 years old when both her parents
died and she had to raise the younger ones until they
married or left home to find work. This left Stella the
proverbial "old maid". The story of Stella continues and
it is quite interesting since at the end she did meet some-
one and eventually married.
The original sampler was stitched on a fine tammy cloth of
approximately 48 threads to the inch. The model was repro-
duced on 30 count Bedrock hand-dyed linen with GAT with
a DMC conversion. If you wish to purchase this design and

MEHITABLE TERRIL 1793
Mehitable Terril is believed to have been
born somewhere in the State of Pennsylvania
to a "Kings Daughter". There are very few records
indicating exactly where, and it is presumed that
she grew up in a area of German extraction.
Mehitable's mother is believed to have been a "King's
Daughter" meaning that she had been sent by the
King of France aboard a ship to help settle this land,
with little or nothing to her name. When she landed
in the colonies, she had to choose a husband and begin
a new life raising a family.
The year 1793 is the birth date of Mehitable's or it may
even be the year that she met her husband to-be. John
Owens Spafford. They married and settled in Vermont
on a farm making out a living in what at that time was
generally known to be wilderness, they had 8 children,
5 of which were boys and 3 girls.
I wish to thank Mrs. Evelina Baird for the intensive research
she did on this sampler, that by the way belongs to her.
Reproduction was stitched on 35 count Pebblestone hand-
dyed linen with Old Willow threads with a DMC conversion.
The stitch count of the design is 166w X 180w.

EVELINA BENOIT 1802
Evelina Benoit is another sampler from the
collection of Evelina Baird. As with most of
Mrs. Baird's ancestry (who is one of the very
few people lucky enough to have been able to
collect quite a number of her long line of rela-
tives sampler pieces). This person is also pur-
ported to have come from the German area of
Pennsylvania, was a seamstress to many promi-
nent people of that time.
This sampler has a very nice history that continues
on the chart. Sampler was reproduced on 30 count
hand-dyed linen with Old Willow threads with a
DMC conversion.
The stitch count on this design is 189w X 118h.

ME AND THEE HEART
HAVEN
Meet Haven my first born grandchild, who lives in Houston, TX with
his father and sister. He will be 12 years old in October and will be
coming to stay with us for 2 1/2 weeks in August. We are so happy
that we will get to have some time with him and we are making plans
to take time off and go to the beach.

HAVEN'S BIRTH SAMPLAR
I designed this samplar when my first grandchild
was born and it was a boy named Haven Raine
Becklin. I now have four grandchildren and my
children are still waiting and waiting for me to de-
sign one for the other three grandchildren (oh me,
oh my).
This design was stitched on 36 count hand-dyed
linen with GAT with a good conversion to DMC,
the stitch count on this design is 100w X 106h.

SHEPHARDS KINGDOM SAMPLAR
PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH HOUSE SAMPLAR
I bought these samplars at an antique shop
in South Carolina, when I asked the owner
if she had any history or date when they were
stitched, she really did not know. The only
information she had was that they were probably
from the 1930's. I used on the logo sheet the
picture of the old samplar. You can stitch this
on any count of linen with a thread of your choice.
The stitch count is 117w X 112h

THE GIFT IS SMALL
THE ROSE SAMPLAR
I designed this samplar in memory of my
mother-in-law who passed away. How I
miss her since she was my best friend not to
say the best mother-in-law you could wish for.
My husband had bought me an antique samplar
when he went to Canada and I decided to use
the verse and sheeps on this design.
Model was stitched on 36 count linen with WDW
threads, the stitch count is 131w X119h.
